The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced the winners of the British Academy Television Craft Awards on the 24th of April. These awards recognise and celebrate the very best in television craft and television programmes broadcast in the UK in 2021.

We were excited to see that James Newton was nominated. He was nominated in the category Best Director: Factual. The nomination was for his series Baby Surgeons: Delivering Miracles, which tells the stories of pregnancy and childbirth through the eyes of the women and the medical teams who treat them. Featuring pioneering operations on babies who are still inside the womb, saving lives before they are born.

Live Life Give Life’s connection to James Newton goes back a few years. Each of the trustees of Live Life Give Life have a connection to organ donation. Trustee Luke Yates experienced something that is unfortunately not uncommon. His wife Sam suffered from cystic fibrosis and needed a lung transplant, but died before a suitable organ could be found for her. This is what motivated Luke to dedicate some of his time to organ donation awareness through Live Life Give Life.

James, being a friend of Sam and Luke was inspired to a documentary film about their story in partnership with Live Life Give Life. The documentary is called A Love Worth Giving. You can find the film on Amazon Prime Video, or you can watch it for free using the Vimeo link below.

Massive congratulations to James on his nomination 👏 You can see more of his work at his website:
