18 Things I Wouldn’t Have Done Without My Gift Of Life!

I am Amelia and I had a heart transplant in August 2002 due to Restrictive Cardiomyopathy. This August (2020) I celebrate 18 extra years of life – so I wanted to let you know about 18 things I wouldn’t have done without my gift of life.

1. Met and married my husband
2. Went on an amazing honeymoon to New York and Barbados
3. Saw my godchildren grow up
4. Got stuck in Texas after a guiding trip to Costa Rica due to the Ash Cloud
5. Climbed Sydney Harbour bridge
6. Saw my friends get married
7. Met my friends’ babies
8. Learnt to drive
9. Bought a house
10. Celebrated reaching another year older
11. Made lots of friends
12. Travelled to Switzerland as part of Scarborough Girl Guides
13. Took a group of guides to centenary camp
14. Went to Corfu on holiday
15. Attended catering college
16. Won best retail shop of the year
17. Went to Disney World Florida
18. Snorkelled on the Great Barrier Reef

I am so grateful to my organ donor and their family for enabling me to do all these wonderful things that I wouldn’t otherwise have been able to.
