18 Things I Wouldn’t Have Done Without My Gift Of Life!
16 August 2020I am so grateful to my organ donor and their family for enabling me to do all these wonderful things that I wouldn’t otherwise have been able to.
I am Amelia and I had a heart transplant in August 2002 due to Restrictive Cardiomyopathy. This August (2020) I celebrate 18 extra years of life – so I wanted to let you know about 18 things I wouldn’t have done without my gift of life.
- Met and married my husband
- Went on an amazing honeymoon to New York and Barbados
- Saw my godchildren grow up
- Got stuck in Texas after a guiding trip to Costa Rica due to the Ash Cloud
- Climbed Sydney Harbour bridge
- Saw my friends get married
- Met my friends’ babies
- Learnt to drive
- Bought a house
- Celebrated reaching another year older
- Made lots of friends
- Travelled to Switzerland as part of Scarborough Girl Guides
- Took a group of guides to centenary camp
- Went to Corfu on holiday
- Attended catering college
- Won best retail shop of the year
- Went to Disney World Florida
- Snorkelled on the Great Barrier Reef
I am so grateful to my organ donor and their family for enabling me to do all these wonderful things that I wouldn’t otherwise have been able to.
