James Lewis (pictured, aged 4, in 2014) was one of many British children awaiting a heart transplant. He was fortunate to receive his gift of life in 2015 - just in time - and has had a new lease of life.
Following his illness, James also needed a kidney transplant. Unfortunately there is a chronic shortage of child donors as most parents are reluctant to sign up their children to the organ donor register. James was lucky that his mother was able to donate one of her kidneys to him in 2016 and is making good progress.
