Katrina Vernon

I'm Katrina and I'm 30 years old.  I was diagnosed with end stage renal failure at the age of 26 and put on dialysis until my kidneys gained some function.  For two years I remained stable and then they crashed again - my kidney function dropped to 5%.  I spent Christmas 2014 in hospital and had seven blood transfusions and seven plasma exchanges.  I was on the transplant list for 15 months before I had the call.

My late dad had end stage renal failure too and was on dialysis for four years.  He also underwent a bone marrow transplant.

I am passionate about raising awareness of how important organ donation is as I want to raise awareness in my dad's memory in addition to giving thanks for my own transplant.
